This caftan made of antique Indian fabrics has such exceptional details! The body of this dress is made from a terra cotta colored medium weight brushed knit. The front chest is a woven indigo panel with exquisite cross stitching. The back panel features a mirrored fabric patched together with multiple other textiles, with a cobalt blue beaded trim with silver discs, real coins, bells and other charms. These discs and charms have a true vintage quality to them, they don’t feel flimsy like modern immitations.
The bell sleeves are made of various textiles as well, the textile closest to the cuff is reminiscent of thick ribbon with a metallic sheen. Both the sleeve cuffs and the neckline have a luscious red velvet trim. The neckline features a small V at the front, and the chest portion of the dress is lined with a sweet calico floral, with a similar small floral print used to patch the shoulders.
The hem of the dress has a double pleat detail and features a navy blue fabric with metallic gold pin stripes, and there is a surprise talisman hidden on the trim, a preciously tiny iridescent seashell over a silver disc!
There are no closures or fixtures on this dress, it is a simple pull over the head style entry.

Because there is no zipper or stretch to the waist, best fit XS/S in order to pull the dress over shoulders.
Condition: Good. There is a significant 1x1.5” bleach stain on the front bottom of the dress and some sun fading across the front skirt and shoulders, shown in photos. Beautiful condition given how old the textiles are, and the beadwork is fully in tact!
